SWIFT to host 2nd Innotribe Startup Challenge in May 2016

SWIFT has announced it will host the Innotribe Startup Challenge for fintech startups for the second consecutive year in 2016, at its African Regional Conference in May
Startup ChallengeSWIFT said its African Regional Conference – now in its 23rd year – will happen from May 17-19, 2016, in Mauritius; and will unite more than 500 policymakers, industry pioneers and the more extensive financial group from crosswise over Africa, for networking, education, discussion and debate.
For the second year running, the gathering will play host to the Innotribe Startup Challenge, which expects to acquaint the world’s brightest new businesses with financial service experts, angel investors, venture capitalists, and global leading fintech and financial decision makers.
Disturb Africa reported not long ago on the first ever Innotribe Startup Challenge, which saw five African new businesses chose to contend in the worldwide finals, after 14 African organizations made it to the semi-finals. The five African finalists were IntelworldNotify, YueDiligence2Quins and ZAQ Finance.
The five African new businesses pitched at the worldwide finals, at the end of the day passed up a great opportunity for the US$50,000 prize, which went to United States (US) startup Hyperledger.
SWIFT said for the 2016 Startup Challenge, the emphasis will be on supporting developing fintech biological systems, moving its endeavors in Africa and Latin America.
“Expanding on the colossal accomplishment from 2015, we are extremely eager to band together with the SWIFT African Regional Conference for the 2016 Challenge,” said Fabian Vandenreydt, worldwide head of securities, at Innotribe and the SWIFT Institute at SWIFT.
“Africa is a hotbed of fintech movement with a considerable measure of undiscovered thoughts, assets and ability. We are excited to see what the 2016 candidates bring to the table, and anticipate giving them that greatly required presentation to financial establishments.”
Applications to the 2016 Startup Challenge will open in January 2016, and the effective candidates will be declared in April 2016.
